Scottish Ballet have truly surpassed themselves with this spellbindingly beautiful production inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen.
From the opening scenes, through to the heart warming ending, the story is told with elegance, drama and wit.
Set to the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, performed live by the full Scottish Ballet Orchestra, the tale takes you on a journey from the bustle of a winter’s market to the shivers of a fairytale forest, and on to the Snow Queen’s palace, where you’ll find her surrounded by the icy fragments of an enchanted mirror.
Clever characterisation combines with atmospheric scenery to bring the tale to life, depicting the fun of the circus, the campside camaraderie of the fortune teller and the final heart warming reunion of the two lovers.
