WELCOME TO LITTLE BLACK BOOK EDINBURGH, YOUR EDINBURGH LUXURY GUIDE
Thank you for visiting our unique and invaluable guide to Edinburgh luxury. Whether you’re a luxury loving local, or a visitor to Scotland’s capital, check here first for information on the very best luxury Edinburgh has to offer. We’ve been Edinburgh locals for many years, and your behalf, we’ve profiled restaurants, bars and brasseries, luxury hotels, shopping experiences, events, festivals, and some of Edinburgh’s finest private event venues. We never write about anything we haven’t experienced first-hand, and if it isn’t good enough, it doesn’t make our Little Black Book. We’ve gained a reputation for being fiercely fussy over the years, and that is part of what makes this such a useful resource to enhance your visit to Edinburgh.

EATING OUT IN EDINBURGH
If you’re planning to dine out in Edinburgh, you’re in for a real treat. Edinburgh has a higher concentration of restaurants per head of population than anywhere else in the UK, meaning if you want it, the Edinburgh Restaurant scene is likely to be able to oblige. We helpfully star-rate all our dining reviews on food, service, and ambiance, and we’re 100% unpaid.
DRINKING IN EDINBURGH
If Edinburgh is luxury restaurant heaven, it’s certainly no slouch in the drinks department either. Edinburgh’s bar scene has come alive in recent years, with venues to imbibe in style in every part of the city.
Whether you’re searching Edinburgh’s cocktail bars for the perfect Mojito, you’re a Scotch whisky devotee looking to pursue your passion, or just want to round off your day in a relaxing wine bar with an impeccable list, we’ve been there and done it for you (someone had to). Edinburgh is also no slouch in the gin department, and neither are we.
We bring you 90 proof Edinburgh luxury in a glass.
EDINBURGH LUXURY HOTELS
As the capital of Scotland, you’d expect to find a wealth of luxury hotels in Edinburgh, and the city doesn’t disappoint. Princes Street is bookended by two luxurious Edinburgh icons, the ‘Caley’ (Waldorf Astoria Caledonian), and the ‘Grand Dame’ – The Balmoral, but this isn’t the whole story. Edinburgh’s elegant facades hide a wealth of other luxurious hotels, from beautiful town-house boutiques, to baronial piles. Or why not opt for a home from home? From a stunning serviced apartment on a city centre close, to hiring your own Scottish castle, this city has it all.
EDINBURGH FESTIVALS AND EVENTS
Edinburgh is synonymous with Festivals, with a multitude of internationally renowned festivals gracing the city throughout the year. August’s Edinburgh International Festival was established in 1947, which also saw the founding of The Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Others have followed, with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Jazz and Blues Festival, and the Art Festival being just a few examples. Discover the best of them with our Festival content.

EDINBURGH’S PRIVATE VENUES
Whether for business or pleasure, a special event demands a special venue. Whether you’re planning a wedding, a conference or team-building event, or a private dinner on a grand or intimate scale, we’ve got the information you need. We’ve used our partnership with unique venue collective Unique Venues of Edinburgh to experience some of Edinburgh’s most luxurious private venues.
With profiles of venues like Edinburgh Castle and The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, if you can’t find the right venue for hire here, you probably can’t find it.
LUXURY EDINBURGH SHOPPING
Edinburgh does luxury shopping a little differently to most cities. Even Princes Street’s flagship store, Jenner’s is a little lower key than its London equivalents. Along the likes of George Street, a wealth of smaller boutiques rub shoulders with the big names.
Down smaller, cobbled lanes like Thistle Street, independent shops run by masters of their trade will offer you an individual standard of service that will make you feel like you’ve struck luxury gold. However, the same can be said of bijoux designer district Multrees Walk, where the warmth of welcome belies the glossy storefronts.
