The first impression of Foundry 39 is that it is probably designed for a younger age group than the category I fall into, but this would be a mistake as the relaxed atmosphere and warm welcome would make anybody feel at home. A lovely summer evening
Once we’d settle into our comfortable booth my dining partner and were the happy recipients of a really good mojito and glass of wine, my dining partner and I were torn between so many tempting dishes on the menu.
Eventually we opted for a the peri peri king prawn pizza and a buttermilk chicken burger. It’s difficult to judge how spicy the pizza was, because my friend likes particularly hot food and I’m a complete spice wimp so we had to agree to disagree regarding the heat of the dish, but did agree that it was particularly tasty with succulent prawns and a wonderfully light base.
I absolutely love buttermilk chicken and was delighted by my chunk of moist, deep fried chicken, with beautiful crisp batter.
We chose side orders of salad, which came with a refreshing, light dressing and halloumi fries, served with harissa yogurt, mint and pomegranate seeds. I signed up to the halloumi fan club a number of years ago, but having tasted the combination deep frying with the freshness of the yogurt and mint and warmth of harissa, I’m now a life long member.
I only sampled one cocktail on the night of my visit as I was heading to another event that evening, but judging by the one I did have, I’ll be back to prop up the bar sometime soon!
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was warm and if you’re looking for reasonably priced, good quality food, including I’d recommend it.
