The floor to ceiling glass walls of the rooms at Musselburgh Race Course, just six miles from Edinburgh, are obviously designed to give fabulous views across the track on race day, but even on the drabbest days they create a wonderfully light and airy atmosphere when the venue is used for meetings and celebrations.
The Owners and Trainers Marquee, adjacent to the parade ring, is a spacious and luxuriously furnished permanent marquee offering dining for up to 80 guests. Adjoining the marquee is a large lawn set with modern outdoor furniture where guests can enjoy alfresco dining and barbeques. Using the two areas in conjunction with one another, however, gives the best of both worlds, allowing for a seamless transition from a sophisticated outside evening celebration to music and dancing late into the night.
The sweeping main stand, which has recently been modernised, offers a choice of rooms with panoramic views across the racecourse and surrounding countryside, either from inside the rooms themselves or from their balconies. The rooms have inter-connecting double doors, which can be opened to join one room to another allowing for a range of venue sizes or to give the option of having dinner or a business presentation in one room, a bar in another and dancing in a third, thereby allowing an event to progress from one stage to another within the same venue.
The main floor of the stand holds the Lothian which has a capacity of 100 if used theatre style for a conference. The room has a built in projector and screen and black out blinds, making it ideal for presentations, but lighting and music, coupled with a permanent bar, transform the space into an evening function venue with access to an outside lawn on a balmy evening.
Unsurprisingly, the function suite at Musselburgh Race Course is dotted with flat screen televisions to get a closer look as horses and riders thunder across the track, but they can also be individually programmed to use for presentations at meetings and conferences.
The venue has ample free parking and the event managers, Heritage Portfolio are happy to either combine your tailored event with the thrill of a day at the races or on an exclusive use basis, where you’re free to make use of the extensive grounds and green spaces for leisurely outdoor events such as champagne picnics or team building activities for the more adventurous.
