When you think about The Scotch Whisky Experience you tend to think of a five star tourist attraction, and of course you’d be right, but if you’re looking for an unusual venue in Edinburgh it also boasts a impressive private events suite at the top of the building. As part of our partnership with Unique Venues of Edinburgh, we got a peek behind closed doors at the suite, which was completely refitted last year as part of the venue’s £7 million refurbishment project.
The suite has been cleverly designed using high ceilings and natural light to give it a contemporary feel, while still paying homage to the building’s heritage and ties to the whisky industry. The larger of the rooms is particularly adaptable and would lend itself well to anything from a large dinner, to a drinks reception or theatre style presentation.
The reception area of the suite has plenty of room for a registration desk and coat storage, as well as a comfortable break out area leading to the smaller of the two rooms, which would be ideal for a private dinner or board meeting.
The suite is equipped with an array of multimedia features, including digital signage outside each room, and in the larger space, an over-mantel mirror that can display digital images. Both of these can be personalised for individual events.
As well as utilizing the private spaces, exclusive evening use of the venue’s attractions makes any event stand out. The attractions include a vault containing the world’s largest collection of scotch whisky, where you can have dinner for up to 10 people (pictured left) . The vault adjoins a whisky bar area with views over Edinburgh’s south side, where you can enjoy whisky tastings, as well as hold drinks receptions.
Catering is available courtesy of the team at the Amber Restaurant who certainly know a thing or two about modern Scottish cuisine, as I found out when I dined on the restaurant’s ‘Taste of Scotland’ menu. For further details see Amber Restaurant Edinburgh
