Cafe Marlayne has two restaurants in Edinburgh, one at the top of Leith Walk and one in Thistle Street.
We’re far bigger fans of the restaurant on Thistle Street, but Leith Walk is handy if you’re going to The Edinburgh Playhouse. The food is simply prepared French cuisine which has been well executed, with one of our favourites being scallops with Boudin Noir (French black pudding).
There’s generally a very good atmosphere in both venues, with people being quite tightly seated which heightens rather than distracts from the experience if you like somewhere with a bit of a buzz.
