If you like a venue steeped in history, Winton Castle, considered a masterpiece of Scottish Renaissance architecture, is an absolute must see.
The house is impressive from the word go. With castellation and turrets on the main façade and tall twisted chimneys, the house builds in height towards the rear original building and gives you the feeling that you could really be king (or queen in my case) of the castle for a day.
Don’t be mistaken though, it might be impressive, but the welcome is warm and friendly and, even during a busy open day, nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the locally employed staff.
It goes without saying that the House makes an ideal venue for a wedding. In fact the General Manger fell in love with it when looking for a venue for his own wedding – if that’s not a big enough recommendation, we don’t know what is.
The function rooms on the ground floor have a feeling of grandeur, and lend themselves well to functions of different styles and sizes, from intimate dinners in the cabinet room or cellar to large receptions in the drawing room. See room sizes below.
Winton has more strings to its bow than function rooms and overnight accommodation with a range of outdoor activities making it ideal for either team building corporate exercises or just a great day out.
Exclusive use of the estate offers the choice of hovercraft, falconry, clay pigeon shooting, dog and duck herding, fencing, laser tag, highland games or, perhaps more suited to us, a game of croquet, a glass of Pimms and a barbeque. If you have more specific requirements, such as off-roading, the team at Winton is more than happy to make special arrangements.
