A bunch of flowers or box of chocolates may be lovely, but if you’re anything like me you’d prefer to spend time with your son or daughter so we’ve pulled together a list of things to spoil your mum (and yourself) for Mother’s Day in Edinburgh.
Receiving a gift is a great treat, but spending time browsing round the shops is a great way for mother and daughter to bond whilst selecting the perfect item. Our favourite shopping haunts include Thistle Street, where we love Jane Davidson, Pam Jenkins and ALC or the luxury retailers in Multrees Walk, where you’ll find everything from handbags, to heels and coffee to cars.
Tickets to the theatre are always a lovely surprise and if gifted on Mother’s Day they can be for any night of the year. Check out our Edinburgh Theatre Guides for a selection of what’s on during March, April and May.
Indulge in a four course meal at Harvey Nichols Forth Floor combined with an Elemis facial voucher for £40.00. For full details and bookings contact the Forth Floor Restaurant on 0131 524 8350.
With so many art galleries in Edinburgh, there’s something for every taste and, if the weather’s fine, you could even combine art with a stroll in the fresh air at Jupiter Artland. Details of Edinburgh’s main art galleries are at: Edinburgh Art Galleries
Flowers & Gin
Join leading UK florists Bloom & Wild for a 90 minute masterclass on how to design a beautiful hand-tied bouquet, colour-matched and paired to The Old Curiosity’s Secret Garden range of pastel botanical gins. Details at: Flowers & Gin
The Great Outdoors
If the sun chooses to appear on Mother’s Day, why not escape the city centre for a great day out. Our top picks of places to visit close to Edinburgh is at: Days Out
If your mum’s as much of a book lover as me a literary tour of Edinburgh is a wonderful way to learn some fascinating facts whilst strolling round the city. Details of Edinburgh literary tours are at: Edinburgh Literary Tours
It’s hard to beat whiling away the hours in the sunshine with a glass of crisp wine whilst putting the world to rights, so we’ve compiled a list of our favourite Edinburgh beer gardens at: Edinburgh Beer Gardens
Tea & Pampering
Afternoon tea is always a luxury for a busy mum, but adding a pampering session takes luxury to another level with a Champagne afternoon tea & an ELEMIS facial voucher at Harvey Nichols for £30. Full details and bookings on 0131 524 8350.
