Edinburgh Food Tour

Edinburgh Food Tour Edinburgh food safari Edinburgh food walk EdinburghEdinburgh-born food writer, cookbook author and TV presenter, Nell Nelson runs unique eating walking tours in Edinburgh. The tours are in the city centre – only a ten-minute walk from the main drag – but well off the tourist beaten track and offer guests an opportunity to eat like a local with locals. Nell has created the kind of food tour she would like to go on – so it is like a food-loving friend taking you to their favourite places.

There are at least six eating and drinking stops over a three-hour period. The tours are heavy on the eating, light on the walking: guests who are wary of haggis can start with delicious vegetarian haggis, craft ales, Scottish cheeses, West Coast mussels, smoked salmon which has been dry-smoked on the premises and bagels made with Scottish flour from a bespoke baker, marshmallows with flavours you could never imagine being harnessed to sugar from The Marshmallow Lady, afternoon tea with feather light scones, homemade jam and clotted cream in a vintage tea shop and of course a single malt in a popular pub. With notice nearly all dietary requirements can be accommodated.
The food safaris also offer guests the chance to walk through the UNESCO world heritage of the Georgian New Town and see the stunning architecture at close hand which makes for a vivid contrast to the medieval closes of The Old Town. Highly rated on Trip Advisor, Edinburgh Food Safari is a great way to see and eat a city!

The food safaris run on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 2pm -5pm in Broughton or Stockbridge and some Sundays 9.30am -12.30pm.
Booking is made through the website www.edinburghfoodsafari.com and costs £50 per person and includes at least six food stops over the three hour period. The safaris are a great way for visitors and locals to access unique and delicious locally sourced food and drink quickly and easily. Gift vouchers are also available so a very quick and easy last minute present!
