Private events can also be catered for during your stay, with a dining room for up to ten guests in ATE or up to six in Pod, adjacent to the first floor drawing room.

Since opening in 2014 The Raeburn has become something of a destination on a warm summer evening when locals of all ages congregate on one of the terraces or in the hotel garden to enjoy the sunshine.

A range of steaks, cooked on a Josper grill, form the highlight of the relaxed brasserie, sitting alongside traditional brasserie fare such as burgers, roast chicken and fish.

The facilities are, as you’d expect from a small hotel, slightly limited, but in addition to the above, there’s a private dining, a library and a conference room.

5. The Witchery

At the top of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, the hotel has nine sumptuous Gothic suites, decorated in dramatic reds, golds and warm woods, each with its own indulgent personality.

Because of its romantic atmosphere, The Witchery is very much a couple’s retreat. Most noteworthy, each suite has its own roll top bath for two and the option of a breakfast hamper in your room or a traditional breakfast in the Witchery Dining Room. Little wonder that Dannii Minogue called it ‘the ultimate lust den’!!

As well as accommodation, The Witchery has two award winning restaurants – The Witchery and The Secret Garden – both of which are as wonderfully extravagant in décor as the suites inside this quirky building.
